Congratulations to our following Minister's Award recipients

Congratulations Zoe Tiernan, recipient of the Minister's Award For Excellence in Teaching 

As the College Deputy Principal of The Rivers Secondary College and instructional leader, Zoe Tiernan has led professional learning for college teachers to improve classroom instructional practice. She has provided support for beginning and early career teachers to achieve accreditation and facilitated student and staff voice to inform College decision making. Zoe engages local community agencies and identities to support improved learning outcomes for students and has supported cultural awareness and humility for Aboriginal students. She epitomises the values of The Rivers Secondary College.

Wellbeing Support - Flood Recovery

After the catastrophic flooding events across the Northern Rivers and Tweed areas in February and March 2022,the  group of principals were faced with leading their school communities through response and recovery. After ensuring student's basic needs were met, including food, clothing, school and classroom supplies, school staff set about establishing temporary learning environments in community and neighbouring school spaces. Strong wellbeing initiatives, programs and practices were developed to move from response to recovery, leading to improved attendance and a strong sense of engagement and belonging for children and young people.
